With YouTube and CISCO proclaiming “90% of all web traffic will be video by 2014″ real estate agents better get with it – video – or run the risk of bring irrelevant. After all, what does it matter how great of a real estate agent you are if NO ONE knows you exist? One of the easiest ways to get found online, one of best ways to convey information or even build an emotional bond is with real estate video.
There are all kinds of real estate video, lets see… there are property videos, screen cast, interviews, testimonials, visual stories, powerpoint, keynote and of course – Green Screen and more. Let’s talk about Green screen or Chroma – Key.
Green screen videos are awesome. Well they could be anyway. At Grand Canyon Title we have our own dedicated video studio with a green screen to help our clients grow their business. We were the first title company (that I know of) in the country to do so, we did it because we knew how important video would be in real estate marketing, in conveying information.
Green screen videos allow us and our real estate clients to build or reinforce a brand, they also help save time and money as we can control all aspects of our studio from lighting to sound to background. With a green screen we can make it appear as through we or any of our clients are anywhere. On a busy freeway or in Paris, France in front of a home or inside it. We don’t need to worry about the position of the sun or noisy or distracting environments, we can make a video anytime. Green screen videos allow us to capture and hold our ideal clients attention.
Lately I have seen a quite a few real estate videos shot on green screen, by real estate videos I mean real estate agents. After years of using video in my real estate business, after teaching thousands of real estate agents about real estate video I’ve learned there is a right way and a wrong way to use video in real estate. While I have seen a few real estate agents that “get it” I can see there are no shortage of real estate agents or real estate brokerages that have mastered how NOT to use video in real estate. And they don’t even know it. Some real estate brokerages have asked us for information about setting up a video studio without giving any thought to the content that will be created in it.
Rather than tell you how you should be using green screen in your real estate business, I figured I would tell you how NOT to use green screen in real estate. And because writing a 1 through 10 ways to not use green screen video would be boring and you probably wouldn’t read it anyway I decided to make a video – of course. When watching the video below, keep in mind those green screen videos you have seen of real estate agents or real estate brokerages that “don’t get it”, send them this video with a note that says “because I want you to succeed”.
