Video is the future. Not just of the real estate business but all business. Video simply says so uch more than text or pictures ever could. If you were looking for information about a product, would you prefer to see pictures or even read a length article or a video? Depending on how interested you were in the product you would likely select the video.
Video is especially important in the real estate space, as consumers are visual. The real estate process, both buying and selling is emotional – and video uses more of it that any other medium – emotions that it. Video uses our eyes, our ears and in some cases you can actually FEEL what it would be like to be somewhere. Video allows a consumer to “mentally move-in” to a property. They can see where a couch is and where theirs would be. They can see what they would change about a property – the floors, counter-tops, paint, floor plan etc.
The place to host your videos is YouTube. Sure, you can use other video hosting platforms like Vimeo, Vidler, BlipTV, Dailymotion, Metacafe or any of the other hundreds of others {and there are hundreds} but YouTube is the mac daddy. It is owned by Google. Do ya think Google has an incentive to index or “rank” videos on it’s web property before others? Uh – yeah! With real estate agents migrating to video one of the questions I get regularly from real estate agents is “Do my videos need to be on one YouTube channel? YouTube is the 800lb Gorilla in the room. Not only is it FREE and owned by Google, it is also where consumers would look for video NATURALLY.
