{MP4 Below}. They say “Necessity Is The Mother Of All Invention”. This is the story of how MyTitleGuy was created and why.

4 years ago I had a problem. A career ending problem. I went from being one of the top title reps at every title company I worked for in Phoenix to nothing. Almost over night. The reason… The housing bubble had burst.

80% of the deals in Phoenix were distressed – REO or Short Sale. I went from a healthy book of business, real estate agents that gave me most or all of their business, to no book of business, real estate agents that couldn’t work with me because some asset manager somewhere dictated where escrow was going to be opened.

It sucked. To say I was pissed would be an understatement. To say I didn’t think about getting out of the business like so many others, would be a lie.

Rather than complain and moan like a little girl, “it’s not fair”, I regrouped. I noticed my behavior was changing. I stopped going to the yellow pages, print real estate books, my mailbox or a wrapped HUMMER when I needed something and started turning to the Internet. That was 4 years ago.

Today, it seems like every day I get a lead on this website – MyTitleGuy.com. Leads. The fuel that runs any business. Leads are to your real estate business what gas is to your car. Without them – you are not getting very far.

The leads that I get come from everywhere and seemingly everyone, all walks of life anyway. I get leads from real estate agents and REALTORS, Title companies and title reps, buyers and sellers, investors and attorneys. They fill out forms on this website when looking for information of HELP. They find me online when they go to a little something called a search engine.

They ask it a question. That is what we do. That is what YOU do. Most people turn to the Internet to gather information or solve a problem. If you look at your behavior you will see that is true. This is how I help those real estate agents and REALTORS, Title companies and title reps, buyers and sellers, investors and attorneys – find me.

They find me because I have created the content {blog posts, videos, charts, graphs, ebooks, white papers} that they were looking for. Not only did I create the content, I knew HOW to get it found online – Optimization. Getting leads on the Internet are about 2 things: Traffic and Conversion. Getting the right audience to your website {Traffic} and convincing them to do something when they get there – call, email, fill out a form, click here etc {Conversion}.

Getting found online does not happen by accident, it is a function of content. Content is the most important aspect of any marketing plan or strategy. Not all content is created the same. Good content makes a consumer smarter. Good content shows them how to do something. How to avoid something. What to do, what not to do, How to do something easier and more.

I routinely get calls and emails from real estate agents around the country and world {Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Ireland, England, Canada} asking about video. “How do you….” “what program is this….” “Where do I…..” “Do you have any online classes for….” One of my favorites is “How did you become MyTitleGuy?”

Well, today I had the pleasure of sitting down with Al and Jane Andersen of The Golf Realty Network here in Phoenix. The Golf Realty Network “is the exclusive real estate partner on over 390 public and private golf courses in Arizona and Southern Nevada”. Al and Jane run an Internet radio show on VoiceAmerica. Their Internet radio show draws listeners from around the country and Canada that tune in every week to learn more about – wait for it – Golf and real estate. So when they asked me to be their guest you know I had to say yes.

We talked about a lot of things. We talked about the evolution of MyTitleGuy. Where it started and how. My story. My first lead. Real estate marketing of past and present. Grand Canyon Title. The role of video in my business and yours and much more. We also talked about the “commodity” that is the typical real estate agent and HOW to de-commoditize yourself and your business. How to stand out from your competitors. {My story starts at approximately the 17 minute mark}
