A Real Estate Quote That’s All Mine. I Hope You Will Steal It

real estate quotesI have a new quote. It’s all mine too. I didn’t copy anyone else, I didn’t steal from anyone else either. It’s all mine. In a world where people love to steal each others quotes and pass them off as their own I can say I didn’t –  it’s all mine. I hope you will steal it.

Let’s start with HOW I came up with this quote. I didn’t crawl Facebook or Twitter, YouTube or even the Internet – I reached within and pulled it out – of me. I pulled it out because I am frustrated. Yes, my quote is based in the realm of frustration. Let me explain.

Over the last 10 years I have helped real estate professionals grow their business. I was a title rep for 10 years here in Phoenix. I remember the days when real estate marketing was about postcards and flyers, glossy business cards and print real estate books, branded fly swatters and delivering pumpkins on Halloween. I remember those days.

That was before something called “The Internet”

That was before consumers started looking online for their needs. Today consumers go online for 2 reasons:

  1. Gather Information
  2. Solve A Problem
This is the new reality for real estate agents. Yes, direct mail still works, yes pop bye’s still work, yes cold calls still work but they are becoming less effective in today’s tech savvy world. The first rule of sales is to be where your target market is. If your target market is in isle 6 of Safeway then you better be steppin – to Safeway!

makes sense right?

So back to my quote. I thought of it after I spoke with a REALTOR® that was hurling objections at me as to why she wasn’t marketing her real estate business/services online.

“It’s too hard”
“I don’t know how”
“I don’t know what to write”
“I don’t understand”
“I don’t have time”
“It takes too long”
“I suck at that kind of “stuff”
Any of these sound familiar?

Your business has changed. It’s changed not because you wanted it to [god knows you didn’t] it changed because consumer behavior has changed. Many consumers are going online when they need you or your services, this is not only where they expect you to be, this is where many will find their next real estate agent.

So you have a choice. You can keep doing what you are doing now or you can embrace change and learn the new marketing paradigm of helping consumers find you online when they actually have a need, when they actually want to hear what you have to say.

I know it’s hard. Change Is. But I came up with a quote, you inspired me. You can steal it from me if you choose as long as you OWN IT.  I want you to think about it the next time you run into a challenge while creating content for your blog, facebook fan page, twitter, youtube channel, stumble upon, etc.

Here It Is:

‎”Anything worth doing is worth sucking at initially. Just go for it, you will get better at it – I hope.”
