Phoenix, Arizona. Why Move To Phoenix

Why Move To PhoenixSince you are reading this there is a good chance you are like my parents. My parents, Roger and Chris – “Hi Mom and Dad!” left Upstate New York four years ago for the warmth of Phoenix, Arizona. The cold, windchill, lake effect snow, ever increasing property taxes, lack of jobs, social programs and the fact that I relocated to Phoenix Arizona almost 12 years ago was good enough reason for them to relocate as well. Did I mention grandkids? No, it turns out I was not their primary motivation. [big shock]

Phoenix, Arizona is comprised of 20 + communities including [inhale] Avondale, Buckeye, Carefree, Cave Creek, Chandler, El Mirage, Fountain Hills, Gila Bend, Gilbert, Glendale, Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Maricopa, Mesa, Paradise Valley, Peoria, Phoenix, Queen Creek, Scottsdale, Sun City, Surprise, Tempe, Tolleson, Youngtown [exhale] which are collectively referred to as “The Valley Of The Sun”.

I have lived in Chandler, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix [located 22 miles to the southeast] for the past 10 years and worked in Gilbert, Arizona almost as long. I’ve lived in other warm weather states including Nevada [I went to college in Las Vegas], Georgia [I moved to Atlanta after college] and Florida [I spent time in Orlando when I was in the Navy] but I have yet to find a place I like more than Phoenix. I moved to Phoenix for a job with the Phoenix Police Department, long story – short [B.A. Criminal Justice from UNLV, moved to Phoenix, met a girl, she was not too exited about me being a cop, knew a friend in the real estate industry who suggested the title industry, 10 years later – I’m still here and I married – the girl].

But enough about me. You are here because you are wondering “Why Move To Phoenix“. OK, here we go:

    • Sun
    • Little to NO humidity
    • It’s a dry heat
    • No Snow
    • Low property taxes
    • Can’t shovel sunshine
    • Great real estate values
    • Golf [lots of it]
    • Jobs. Major employers include: Honeywell, Intel, Motorola, Banner Health, Wells fargo, Appolo Group, US Airways, Chase, AMEX and more
    • Professional Sports [AZ Cardinals, AZ Diamondbacks, Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Coyotes – maybe]
    • Proximity to California and Mexico
    • World Class Resorts [JW Marriot, Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, Arizona Grand Resort, The W Hotel and more
    • Cheap flights [less than $100 to go to LA, San Diego, Seattle, San Fran etc, compare that to the $300 to fly from NY to NJ]
    • Inexpensive education [ASU, UofA,NAU]
    • Hiking [Camelback Mountain, Piestewa Peak, Sedona]
    • Lakes [Canyon, Bartlett, Seguaro, Apache, Roosevelt, Pleasant]
    • Skiing [Flagstaff]
    • Did I mention no snow?
    • and much more. . .
