If you have been in real estate for any significant period of time you have heard it hundreds if not, thousands of times. From your broker, your sales coach, other real estate agents, title reps, the loan officer that wants your business, guru’s, and on and on. Everyone has an opinion [of course theirs sounds like a fact] about this: The key to success in real estate.
If you only do THIS or you only do THAT or buy THIS or THAT – YOU will be a success. People make a living, [a good one I would imagine] telling you, rather convincing you what the key to success in real estate is. Systems, products, direct mail, relationships, technology, websites, SEO, SEM, Social Media, Facebook – depending on WHO you talk to, one of these will be the key to your success in real estate.
So, how is that working out for you? You have been to the classes, bought the products, licked the stamps, drank the cool-aid, joined the networking groups, bought the website (s), rented a coach, gone to the RA RA sales rallies and what do you have? How is that going for you? have you found the Key To Success In Real Estate?
This may come as a surprise to you but there are people that have a vested interest in getting you to subscribe to their KEY To Success in real estate. So what is the key to success? What will make you a successful real estate agent, title rep, loan officer, builder, what is THAT? And can anyone tell you, show you, teach you how to do it?
If you have read any of my previous posts or seen my videos you may have noticed that I am remarkably candid. I simply tell it as I see it. Some people don’t like it but I don’t care about them or what they think. You know why? Because while I do not know the key to success, I certainly know the key to failure.
I learned a long time ago, I am who I am. While there are plenty of people out there that will betray who they really are to be friends with or do business with someone, this is not me. It’s exhausting being one person, I can’t imagine what it must be like to be two or even three. I guess in part, the key to success is to be YOU, at all costs. But this is not why you are here. You are here to learn the key to failure, something I know a lot about. Any successful person, businessman or woman knows a lot about failure. Trust me.
The key to failure is TO TRY AND PLEASE EVERYONE. Remember when I said that I don’t care what people think? I don’t. Because I am only trying to please one person – me. There are those that will appreciate that, personally – my family and friends, professionally – my fans on facebook, my subscribers on youtube and those that find me online. They know what they are going to get from me.
Your problem is, you are trying to be all things to everyone and sucking at all of them. Remember the old saying “jack of all trades, master of none”? If you want to find the key to success in real estate you must first address the key to failure. Stop trying to be that REALTOR or TITLE REP or LENDER that can help everyone “For All Your Real Estate, or Lending or Title Needs” Barf. Instead, focus on attracting a core group of people to you. Howard Stern, Tom Leykis, Rush Limbaugh figured this out a long time ago. Instead of trying to please 100% of the population, they focus on 1-2%. They create content for their ideal listener and that makes them RICH! Sure 98 or 99% of Americans don’t know who they are or what they do [or even hate them] but they don’t care. They create content for the people that do. Those people that listen to them religiously, buy their books and movies and t-shirts and hats, line up for hours to see them in the rain AND those that tell their friends about them.
Real estate marketing is no longer about direct mail and postcards and print real estate books and shopping cart ads and billboards and me, me, me marketing. It’s about building lists and getting found by your ideal client – online – when they have a need for your product or service. Forget trying to please everyone. Identify your ideal client, that person or people you want to do business with, [investors looking for short sales in Mesa, AZ, Buyers looking for homes in Val Vista Lakes, Veterans looking for a VA loan, Tech Challenged REALTORS, Sellers looking for the most affordable commission rate – most are by the way – ] and create content they would look for online when they need you. My marketing company, PRO-Found Marketing launched a fully indexable IDX solution for WordPress yesterday. I’m not going to tell you what that is or the benefits to your real estate business in using it. Why? Because you would already know and actively be looking for one if you did. Instead of marketing it to 1 million agents, we only want 350 that are serious about getting found online. That is our ideal client.
This is what I do day in and day out. On this blog, facebook, the MyTitleGuy facebook fan page, my real estate marketing YouTube channel, my Twitter, StumbleUpon etc. I know who my ideal client is and what they would look for when they have a need. Folks, It has never been easier to grow your real estate business than it is today. Technology can help your message travel far and wide IF you know who you are, your value proposition, your messaging, your ideal client. Stop betraying yourself, even your clients and start being yourself. You would be surprised how many people are looking for you right now. Help them find you. Marketing is all about being the SOLUTION to someone’s PROBLEM. I help real estate professionals get found online – with WordPress, YouTube, Social Media, Content Creation and Syndication, SEM, On and Off Page SEO etc. What Do You Do?
I can help.
