How Google’s +1 Button Will Help REALTORS Get Found Online

Google +1 Button
Today is a great day for forward thinking real estate professionals that have embraced the Internet. I am a former title rep for a national title insurance company in Phoenix Arizona, I spent 10 years helping real estate agents and loan officers increase their business. Back in the days, agents could increase their business with direct mail and print real estate books now, not so much anymore as consumer behavior has and continues to shift – online

Today Google rolled out the +1 Button. What in the world is a +1 button you ask? Great question. Ya know how when you are searching Google, and you come across something that you thought one of your friends would like, you had to copy the link, past it into an email and send it to them? Well with Google’s +1 button you can recommend information [content] on a web page [like mine] or in the search results without ever leaving it. It’s like the Facebook “Like” button only for Google. When you like something on facebook or a 3rd party website that has a like button you are allowing that information to show up in your news feed for your friends to see. With the +1 Button, your connections will see what you +1’d [if that is even a word] right in their search results. This is great for real estate professionals because consumers can now easily view the recommendations from their connections – right in the search results. Here is what I mean:

Now, imagine you are a forward thinking real estate agent that believes consumers are looking for information of value online, not so much about what a great REALTOR you are. You can create valuable content about short sale vs foreclosure for example. If someone in your social circle see’s value in your content, your message – they can click the +1 button within the search results or on your website. [They must be signed into their Google Account]

Google’s +1 button for websites allows real estate professionals more benefits of social search. By adding the +1 buttons to your web site and pages, you will have another great opportunity to extend the reach of your content – from your social circle – to someone elses. When searching within Google’s search results, would you be more likely to click on a link a friend of yours had +1’d or less? Exactly.

I’m excited. If one of my blog readers, +1’d one of my posts and a friend of theirs was looking for something to do with real estate marketing, real estate websites, content or title company marketing, they could be helping me expose my content – my message – to new consumers, further helping me get “found” online.

So, what should you do now? +1 this post of course [above my recent videos] and then put it on your WordPress Website of course. If you don’t have a WordPress site, or you want help growing your real estate business by getting found online, click one of the PURPLE buttons below.

Oh yea, here is the HOW TO install Google’s +1 Button on your website.
